Hi Crafters. I am Nicky Brown. I have teachers blood running through my veins and a crafter firmly in my heart.
I had a wonderful childhood growing up under enormous African skies. My family moved back to the UK where I graduated as a teacher, a career which as provided me with rich and diverse experiences including home schooling ex-pat children in Egypt, coaching sport to all ages and teaching in the classrooms of a number of local schools, running summer residential language schools, teaching TEFL and working with adults who were learning new skills.
Throughout it all I have loved being creative from interior decorating and paint effects to pottery and jewellery making. I have trained under the watchful eye of the paint effects guru Annie Sloan and have completed a number of interior decorating and painted furniture commissions and co-ordinated a fund raising Community Craft Projects which have been displayed at our local summer festival. I am currently organising a group called The Crafty Crew where I connect craft tutors with willing crafters who learn new crafts for FREE at The Pump House Project, Faringdon.
I am also a bit of a hoarder, reluctant to add to the waste we all create and always thinking "I can do something with that".
Teaching, creating lovely things and recycling have all come together as
The philosophy behind Echodeco is to turn things that are no longer wanted into beautiful new things with an echo of what they used to be.
Over a cup of tea (or two) and in the company of like minded crafters,
Echodeco Workshops will provide you with the skills and ideas to turn otherwise unloved items into new things to treasure.
Clothing, crockery, cutlery and furniture should no longer be destined for the bin but given the Echodeco treatment.
RE-CYCLE RE-PURPOSE RE-USE RE-LOVE
I hope that my passion for teaching and for crafting will enable you to create something you can truly be proud of and fill you with inspiration for your own crafty projects.
